ILCE Digital Library

ILCE is an international organization, integrated by fourteen Latin American and Caribbean countries. This site brings together great digital material with educational features, a very interesting children's section, as well as didactic resources. Something I love about this site is its 'Grammar Notes' section with simple and constant examples of spelling.

Miguel de Cervantes Virtual Library

Created in 1999, its catalog is composed of 135 thousand bibliographic records, of which almost half are books; it also offers critical and research studies, historical materials, newspapers and magazines, audiovisuals, sound archives, videos in Spanish sign language, as well as interesting sections such as the Virtual Library of Mexican Letters and the Argentine Academy of Letters with an important collection of material, in this case from each country, as well as the possibility of downloading magazines and cultural brochures.

Wikisource

This site is part of the Wikimedia Foundation and is a library of free original texts, which have been published under a GFDL, Creative Commons or Public Domain license. Currently there are at least 55 sites divided by language, the Spanish site is in the sixth place of the language with the most articles.

Hispanic Digital Library

It is the online resource of the Biblioteca Nacional de España (BNE), with free and open access, with thousands of documents digitized by the Library. It allows consultation, reading and downloading of books printed between the 15th and 19th centuries, manuscripts, drawings, engravings, pamphlets, posters, photographs, maps, atlases, newspapers, magazines, sound recordings and sheet music.

This space is the result of the collaboration of the Ministry of Culture, the Autonomous Communities and other institutions to digitize the Historical Press published in our country and thus favor the preservation of the memory of Spain. Virtual Library of Bibliographic Heritage

The portal aims to respond to the demand of people interested in being able to consult on the Internet the collections of manuscripts and printed books that are part of the Spanish Historical Heritage. The Biblioteca Virtual de Patrimonio Bibliográfico makes available to users material that is difficult to access thanks to an agreement between the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport and the institutions responsible for the conservation of this content.

Europeana

Created in 2008, this digital library brings together materials such as books, films, paintings, newspapers, sound archives, maps, manuscripts and other archives from the European Union states. Thanks to the collaboration of numerous European institutions (libraries, museums, archive centers...), the Europeana virtual library has been created (with links to 2 million digital objects). Through its website, it is possible to consult online a large number of documents of all kinds (photographs, books, audios, etc.), as well as to access the catalogs of the institutions that have participated in its creation. Among its new content, to commemorate the centenary of World War I, the development of the Europeana 1914-1918 site stands out. The collection is made up of a wide variety of documents in 45 languages.

Ciudad Seva Digital Library

Thousands of classic stories to read on screen, download or print. In 1995, writer Luis López Nieves founded Ciudad Seva out of curiosity. First it was a space to facilitate the dissemination and study of his literary work... and a novel area to share with friends, colleagues and students. But little by little the page took on new duties and proposed more ambitious goals, both nationally and internationally, so that today Ciudad Seva has become a dynamic -and very visited- literary and cultural portal... and the official digital home of Luis López Nieves. Ciudad Seva Digital Library is one of the most important literary libraries on the Internet, in any language. In addition, Ciudad Seva is home to several literary and cultural workshops and forums that bring together thousands of writers and readers from around the world. Medellin Pilot Public Library for Latin America

The Medellín Pilot Public Library for Latin America promotes free access to information, culture, learning and the generation of knowledge. It is a bridge between times that: Promotes the identification, organization, valuation, preservation and dissemination of bibliographic and documentary heritage, contributes to the formation of critical and independent subjects, to the dialogue of knowledge and the understanding of the environment. World Digital Library

The World Digital Library has more than one million royalty-free works from before 1923 (those published after this date do not show the full texts except in the case of official publications or those where dissemination has been permitted). This library offers free primary sources from all over the world: manuscripts, letters, rare books, sound recordings, films, photographs... It aims to promote online cultural exchanges. The site can be navigated in seven languages and the contents cover more than forty languages. It was initiated by the Library of Congress of the United States and so far numerous cultural institutions and official bodies have collaborated. The content can be viewed online on the WDL site itself, on the page of the institution that digitized it, or can be downloaded (in pdf format, and png for images), without the need for any kind of prior registration.

Andean Digital Library

The Andean Digital Library is a space that brings together representative works of the cultural heritage of the Andean countries and constitutes, at the same time, an environment of information, knowledge and services in the different areas of integration. This project, originally promoted by the General Secretariat of the Andean Community, has been developed with the participation of fourteen institutions of the Andean sub-region - national libraries and state and private universities - and the support of the French Institute of Andean Studies (IFEA). The BDA has the support of the French Cooperation, within the framework of the cooperation agreement signed between the General Secretariat of the Andean Community and the French Regional Delegation of Cooperation for the Andean Countries.

Internet Archive

The Internet Archive is a digital library managed by a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of archives, snapshots of public Web sites, multimedia resources, and software. This organization exists with the support of Alexa Internet and other contributors who have donated materials and collections such as the Library of Congress and many other public and private libraries. It houses a large number of files of many types such as audio, video and text, many of them in the public domain, or with Creative Commons or other licenses that allow free distribution. Among its sections is the Moving Images collection which contains a total of approximately 19,000 video files (August 2005 estimate). The top collection is the Prelinger Collection, called Prelinger Archives, with a total of 1,977 files (as of August 2005) that includes a large number of cataloged "Advertising Ephemera," educational, industrial (films for business promotion), and amateur films. The films are from the years 1927 to 1987.
